Dear joe:

We would like to let you know about the recently released Verilog and VHDL design
environment from Aldec for designing Xilinx FPGAs and CPLDs. The software is called
Active-HDL 4.0 XE (Xilinx Edition) and is now available from the Aldec website at
http://www.aldec.com

Active-HDL 4.0 XE has been designed to provide the highest productivity with large HDL
designs, and continue the legacy of your Xilinx Foundation Series designs. The most
important new features include:

* Integrated HDL analysis of HDL files and HDL design hierarchy
* New Design Flow Manager allowing the use of Synplicity and Synopsys synthesis
software
* Automated batch mode for Xilinx implementation using TCL scripts
* Block Diagram Editor for fast input of VHDL and Verilog structure diagrams
* New generation Schematic Editor and Graphical Symbol Editor
* Verilog and VHDL integrated source code debugger
* HDL and EDIF simulation is over 50 times faster than existing Foundation simulator
* Automated Testbench generation for both VHDL and Verilog simulation
* Support for the latest Xilinx devices (Virtex-E and Spartan II)

Active-HDL 4.0XE can use the same project files you have created in Xilinx Foundation.
The schematics and other files can be used, which preserves all graphics, attributes,
hierarchy structure and settings. It is now easier than ever to reuse your schematics,
ABEL files, LogiBLOX and CoreGEN modules and netlists in the new HDL environment to
retarget these designs to the newest Xilinx device families.

Active-HDL 4.0 XE is compatible with existing Foundation and Alliance Series software
versions 1.5, 2.1i as well as the upcoming 3.1i. The software is currently available
for Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows 98. Other platforms will also be
supported soon.
