(IDG) -- A smart card that can verify its
owner through fingerprint verification or
iris recognition has been developed by
Keyware Technologies and Proton World

The last company I was an employee of made such a keyboard. I designed
most of the s/w architecture and did the biometric keyboard as a special
project. The biometric smartcard keyboard was shown at Comdex in Las
Vegas last year. All crypto and biometric verification was done in the
keyboard, so as to not expose those things to the potentially hostile PC.
The keyboard does SET, so it's non-trivial software that's in it. :-)
Compaq has announced that they will be selling some versions
of that keyboard Real Soon Now, they call it something
like "Enhanced Security Smartcard Keyboard".
BTW, you shouldn't use the toad.com address.
