about adopting encryption and digital certificates.

is billing Instantme 2.0 -- developed in conjunction with 
<a href="/companyfinder/filters/detail/0,9991,00262,00.html">America Online
Inc.</a>

-- as one of the industry's first secure IM products. 
The new version not only provides encryption but also supports 
the use of digital certificates, company officials said.<p>

That's an important add-on for the enterprise market, which has been 
slow to adopt IM, partly due to concerns about messages being intercepted.<p>

"Novell Instantme crosses all network and company boundaries," 
said John Gailey, vice president of product management in Novell's 
net content division. "Further, because it uses Novell digitalme technology
-- 
a Net identity service -- users' contact lists are ... 
accessible regardless of the user's location."<p>

Novell, of Provo, Utah, has also added 
<a href="/companyfinder/filters/detail/0,9991,1727,00.html">
CUseeMe Networks Inc.'s</a>  audio and video chat capabilities, 
which it hopes will make Instantme 2.0 a serious collaboration tool 
for the corporate user.<p>

<span class="msubhead3"><B>Net Publisher branches out</B></span><BR>

As part of Novell's overhaul of Net Publisher, its Web-publishing offering, 
version 2.0 now supports <a

Microsoft Corp.'s</a> (Nasdaq:

HREF=http://www.zdii.com/industry_list_new.asp?mode=news&ticker=MSFT>MSFT</A
>) 
Windows 2000 as well as Windows NT and Novell's own NetWare.<p>

The revamp also includes a fully documented API, which will allow users to 
develop their own customized features for Net Publisher.<p>

Another feature enables authors to give their colleagues access to a 
document simply by adding their names to a user list.<p>
