IME an American cop doesn't even need a fucking dog to search your car illegally - they just say "boy it sure does stink of weed in here son, what you been up to? mind if we take a look through the car?" - and they will say they have PC to search if you say no because they smelled marijuana smoke! Of course, this also makes it easier to get shit thrown out in court. But it's still fucked up. I've had it happen to me when there was *absolutely* no marijuana involved, nor any smell - they searched anyway.
