The New York State Bar Association is urging the United Nations to establish a war crimes tribunal to investigate the invasion of Ukraine. “During our nearly 150-year history, the New York State Bar Association has been a champion of the rule of law and human rights. We must establish a tribunal to make certain that justice is served,” said association President Sherry Levin Wallach. The association’s Executive Committee, acting on behalf of its governing body, the House of Delegates, voted today to ask the UN to investigate and prosecute members of the Russian military and government for violations of international law including human rights violations, crimes against humanity and aggression. The tribunal would be similar to the courts that investigated war crimes in Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Cambodia.
