The U.S. Department of Defense defended its decision to designate light
section and ranging technology firm Hesai Technology Co. Ltd. as a Chinese
military company, telling a District of Columbia federal judge that there
exists "substantial evidence" that the company is affiliated with the
Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
