Special counsel Jack Smith on Monday lodged the government's opening brief
in its Eleventh Circuit appeal of the dismissal of the classified documents
case against former President Donald Trump, arguing that the lower court's
finding is contrary to "precedent and history" and the "long tradition of
special-counsel appointments by the attorney general."
