One could tag the hader lines at the server. If the message is from a subscribed user
(or one of the anonymous mailers) the server could add a X-Filter: CPUNK (or some
other tag) to the header of the messages. This assumes several things:

-- the only messages worth reading are from the "subscribed" addresses
-- you can get the cooperation of all node operators (LOL!!)

IMHO these tagging scheams will not work as it requires a group of people to work
together on something that they are not interested in working together on. If you
could get 1/2 of the subscription base to add the CPUNK tag to the subject line (a
miraculous feat) are you going to stop reading the rest of the list's messages?

I just went through the last 1,084 cypherpunk messages that I have saved. Of those 209
of them I considered SPAM. Of those 209, 98 of them were from the toad.com node. Drop
toad.com and you should loose ~50% of your spam. I would have to say that the vast
majority of the "SPAM" messages are quite obvious from the subject of the messages:

"Quick Cash Secret Banking System"
"CAR'S AS LOW AS 99 PER MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"ONLINE CASINO'S ???"
"For Black Entrepreneurs Only . . . ."

Very obvious stuff here. 99% of the spam I get I can delete without ever opening the
message.
