Carnivore is a valid Stupidity Tax implement.
If Alice wants to shield her traffic from the government she should use
encryption and randomized/anonymous insertion/pick up points. Otherwise,
snooping can occur upstream from Bob, or if Alice is really important, at the
concentration points like Mae {West, East, etc} as it is going on as we speak.
The only reason for carnivore is probably the unwillingness of certain TLAs
with Really Good infrastructure to share data with other TLAs that are Really
Clueless, therefore duplication of pickup devices. The hierarchy and pecking
order of TLAs within organised government is measured by how far upstream they
can position their pickups. Only nobodies bother ISPs and end users.
Relying on the legal framework (contracts, law etc) to protect from entity that
enforces definitions of legal is dumb, and Alice should be rightfully removed
from the gene pool. It is really sad that protecting idiots is what cpunks
discuss lately. Idiots should be left to become extinct.
