Galbraith is rather famous for judging communist china (back
in the days when it really was communist) by the conditions
he encountered in a luxury hotel for foreign friends of the
regime.
It is striking that the more that intellectuals froth with
outrage at moderate and civilized inequality in the US, the
less they are apt to notice the brutal and savage inequality
of totalitarian terror states.
