Justices Gut State's 'Son of Sam' Law By MAURA DOLAN, Times Staff Writer SAN FRANCISCO -- The California Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a state law that prohibits felons from cashing in on their crime stories in a case that pitted freedom of speech against victims' rights.
