At least they're short.  I use pine, so I only have to hit the 'd' key
when looking at the index on each message to ignore.  It's an
exceptionally quick filter.  Compared to the time it takes to reply to
even this message, it's insignificant time (5 seconds for 40 messages some
times).

Banning one person allows you to ban any person.  Freedom depends on
responsiblity, so those who don't seem responsible but aren't actually
doing any harm need to be tolerated.  Ignoring a problem doesn't make it
go away, but it prevents worse problems in the long run.

It's kind of like meditation.  There are lots of bothersome noises when
you are trying to concentrate on something.  Ignore the noise, and just
concentrate on the signal.
