Some old loon here keeps claiming that predicting the end of the world blah, blah blah...Crypto may have plateaud, thats all.Tim is senile, just ignore him.
DO NOT FEED THE MONGO.
Physics experienced a dramatic series of advances earlier this century, evolution is said to proceed in spurts followed by long periods of consolidation/decline.
Who says crypto is any different?
>>>1. Export all the crypto you want, but breaking even stupid crypto will get you prosecuted. <<<
Then its still revolutionary technology with grand opportunities for dramatic court cases, martyr creation, legend laying, etc.David and Goliath scenarios abound.Get with THAT program.Alternatively turn to the dark side Luke, you have no idea what your crack might be worth to the Emperor.
There are more things in heaven and on earth Horatio.America is not the internet and its certainly not the world,it may not be much longer FOR this world the way it's going and good riddance.Kill them all sheik, and let Allah sort them out.
>>>2. Our faith in the mathematical underpinnings of some crypto may be fundamentally misplaced. <<<
And if it is, that fact won't leak sooner or later? I don't know if you've noticed but it's gotten exponentially harder to keep a secret these days. And in case you've been living under a rock for the last six months there have been no less than three reported tests on quantum encryption. One over fibre optic several kilometers, another through the air, both successful. There was another way of distributing keys proposed from satellite that sounded expensive,(as they all do)but as sound as is reasonably possible. If faith is lacking in the most widely used mathematical methods then there are alternatives, seek and ye shall find.I am a newbie and a bumblie and I know at least two that don't rely on commercial companies.
I personally strongly believe that faith in anarcho-capitalist mathematics may be misplaced.Like there doesn't seem to be any?
No one here has disabused me of that.
Should we always have fallbacks, failsafes and backups, yes and bloody workarounds and getaway plans as well and all. What do you take us for?
The Scarfo case told me that the feds are going to a lot of bother to cover their crack, and if they can't use their crack then it's almost useless to them anyway.
There's no point getting the best intelligence ,as Stalin did,if you don't or can't use it.
Some problems never get solved, they just get superceded by new problems.

>>>3. The public won't use crypto anyway, so why do we even bother? Anything encrypted stands out in the bitstream like a giant red flag with a smiling Saddam on it. <<<
The spooks can't even use carnivore for operational intelligence for the sheer amount of traffic. That's been demonstrated by the Moussai snafu.Granted they are throwing pork at it right now,the gap may soon be plugged. So what? When most people defy the Stasi, the Berlin Walls come tumbling down. It's more important that people feel that they can use it if they want to then if they actually use it.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of strong beer and crypto mean anything to ya
That human solidarity spreads fast enough to protect those singled out for punishment by the state and that collective punishment is met with rebellion and eventual revolution.Little thing called,'collapse of governments.'
This is not just some nerds technical talkshop here pal and if you think the parties over well then don't let the door slam on your ass on the way out.The golden age of crypto-anarchy is just about to begin.
>>>Yes, folks. It's the End of the Golden Age of Crypto. Time to move on to the Golden Age of something else. <<<
For once you said something I half agree with,if they call you a wit then they may be half right.
