Rat gives rescuers the skip

FIREFIGHTERS sent to save a cute puppy from a rubbish skip were in for a
nasty surprise.
The officers rushed to the bin in Clarendon St, Southbank, early yesterday
after someone reported hearing distressed dog sounds.
Instead, firefighters found an overweight rat.
It is understood the rat did a runner as the firemen also bolted from the
scene.

Arna the lonely circus elephant will have her case reheard in the NSW
Magistrates Court after a senior judge today ordered more evidence be
considered.
Supreme Court Judge William Windeyer today upheld an appeal by Animal
Liberation NSW on cruelty to the Asiatic elephant by her owner, Stardust
Circus.
The alleged cruelty act took place on December 30, 2000, at Gosford on the
NSW central coast when Stardust allowed Arna a visit by a group of three
elephants, then removed them "several hours later
