China promotes stealthy J-10A
Beijing's aspiration to field a new generation of stealthy fighter
aircraft
has been further highlighted by confirmation that its Chengdu No
611 Institute
has completed conceptual design work on two advanced variants of
its J-10A
fighter.
A Chinese aviation industry source told Jane's Defence Weekly that
these
stealth developments cover single- and twin-engine designs, both
of which
feature a twin vertical tail fin structure.

US seeks enhanced large-aircraft SAM protection
The Italian General Directorate for Aeronautical Armaments (DGAA),
acting
on behalf of 12 European air forces, has awarded Aermacchi - which
leads
a consortium of five aerospace companies - a contract to perform
the feasibility-study
phase of the Eurotraining program. This will examine candidate
solutions
and their life-cycle costs for an integrated Advanced European Jet
Pilot
Training (Eurotraining) system, to be introduced in about 2010.

Nepal takes delivery of first Polish M28.05 Skytruck tactical
transport
aircraft
The Polish PZL Mielec aircraft manufacturing plant has delivered a
first
M28.05 Skytruck STOL tactical transport aircraft to the Royal
Nepalese
Army, and the company is hopeful that "a few" more will be
sold
to Nepal in the near future.
