Court rules for Kylie's bottom
21jan03
POP princess Kylie Minogue has won a legal battle to prevent the
exploitation of her most prized asset - her bottom.
The Australian singer has halted the sale of a dance fitness video that
cashed in on her name and famous rear.
Minogue was furious when choreographer Dan Karaty brought out The Hotpants
Workout video using her trademark gold hotpants on the sleeve, and boasted
his moves helped her tone up.
In fact, Karaty worked with her only twice - helping on ITV's An Audience
With Kylie Minogue and on routines for her In Your Eyes hit video.
He did not work on the video for Spinning Around, in which the hotpants
appeared.
But that did not stop the American giving interviews bragging about how his
routines helped shape Kylie's bottom and suggesting diets for women wanting
the perfect figure.
Karaty said: "There is a particular routine that will help tighten your
butt. Well, it worked for Kylie."
In November, Minogue's lawyers brought a High Court action against the
makers of the video.
Last night, Minogue's solicitor Stephen Taylor said the defendants had paid
costs and damages.
