Urgent Fax, Phone, and Email Alert: Thailand crackdown on pro-democracy Burmese worsens!

Burmese activists deported from Thailand danger of torture, rape, and imprisonment at the hands of Burmas military regime!

Deportations will continue if we do not stop the Thai Government!

*Please take time to write to the Thai Ambassador to the U.S. about this urgent issue*

The Thai Government has deported Burmese pro-democracy activists and is preparing to deport more. We are especially concerned as activists turned over to Burmas regime in the past have been raped, tortured, and imprisoned. In the past few months the Thai Government has launched a crackdown on Burmese dissidents on Thai soil who have fled the Burmese dictatorships brutal atrocities. The Thai Government hopes to appease Burmas military junta in the interest of economic gain.

Write to demand the immediate release of Burmese awaiting deportation and the guaranteed safety of all Burmese refugees and dissidents currently living in Thailand. Tell the Thai Government to stop all deportations, arrests, persecution, and targeting of Burmese activists now!

Points to include in your message:

· The Thai Government must immediately stop the round-ups, detentions, deportations, and harassment of Burmese dissidents in Thailand.
· Thailand must cease threats to deport refugees from Burma.
· Due to its recent actions, you consider Thailand to be a partner, with Burma??s junta, in human rights abuses.
· The Royal Thai Government should relax its new stringent visa requirements for Burmese entering Thailand so that they will not be forced to travel to Burma or a distant country in order to reenter Thailand and reunite with their families.
· Until the Royal Thai Government does so, you will reconsider any travel to Thailand in the future and will advise your friends and family to do the same. You will also be less inclined to buy products Made in Thailand.
