Tim May indulges himself in an entertaining fantasy here. The war is not between ethnic groups. Mostly, it is not between
political groups. The war is between tiny ruling elites and the mostly very ignorant masses. Tim May is with us as a unit
of the very ignorant masses. Mostly, it has not even been a war but a beating of the masses by the ruling elites.
The ruling elites attempt to take away our guns so we cannot defend ourselves.
The surveillance by the State is to keep the people from organising and from being informed. A well organized, and informed
people who also have lots of good weapons would be able to defeat the State and its ruling elites.
Much of the intolerance of American groups to each other has been multiplied by the ruling elites in the old technique
of divide and conquer and rule.
So, why is the recent great increase in State power? The reason is that the ruling elite is beginning to put the U.S. people into
poverty. We are not used to poverty and we won't be graceful about accepting it. The police state will protect the wealth of the
priviledged from the people. It appears that America is going to join the 3rd world countries. As the State becomes much more
obviously illegitimate, it needs much greater force to dominate the people. As it more greatly crushes the people in the
service to the ruling elite it needs greater force.
Tim May sees the contest as between the State and independent people. This is not true. It is the ruling elites against the people as
a collective interest and as masses of individuals as it seems to always have been. The State is a cat's paw of the ruling elites.
Other instruments of the ruling elites are huge corporations, central banks and major religions. The ruling elites seem to mainly exist as
privileded families. Tim May wallows in LIbertarian Dogma.
As far as Tim May's boast of the the burn-off of minority groups, we should hope that some of the groups would make common
cause with us for the defeat of he ruling elites. Cypherpunks , individually, may judge as to what groups may be too stupid or
to vile to see the common threat :-)
