helmets attack and drive back riot police. Waiting tourists suck in tear
gas. The terminal smashed up. The parking lot on fire. Downtown. Fighting
lasts all night. Wealthy stores looted. Government buildings, signs of
French colonialism, attacked. All of this took place on the "island paradise"
of Tahiti following France's recent nuclear test in the south Pacific.
