A major international conference organized by The Royal Institute of International Affairs in association with
Jane's Defence Weekly

This is a reminder to register for this year's Chatham House defence conference which has been organized in partnership with Jane's Defence Weekly. This established gathering brings together government, the military, and industry, as well as policy makers, financiers, opinion formers and academics from all the major European countries and the USA. The conference is the seventh in the series and will explore the many issues surrounding Europe's future security options, addressing current commitments, international security threats, network centric warfare and the role of NATO and the USA.

TANK OUTCOMES STILL VITAL ON THE BATTLEFIELD
With the ADF's operational focus transferring from a fixation on continental defense to that which now accepts that, to achieve the strategic outcomes required of it by government, offshore operations are inevitable and will predominate, realism has again returned to the debate about the most appropriate combat capabilities for expeditionary warfare, ie ground forces.

The US Army is building a new plan for utilizing space-based satellites and communications systems in the future that makes activities like en-route mission planning and spoofing of an adversary's communications systems a standard part of operations, officials said.

Australia has been a motivated and steadfast supporter of the US-led 'war on terrorism'. Canberra deployed Australian Defence Force (ADF) early-entry forces to the Middle East in late January as a show of solidarity for Washington's move against Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
