Anti-war protesters pelt eggs at PM's car
Anti-war protesters have pelted Prime Minister John Howard's
car with eggs and tomatoes less than 24 hours after he gave a national
address on the need to forcibly disarm Iraq's Saddam Hussein.
Mr Howard had just arrived at an Aboriginal cultural centre in Adelaide
when the protesters hurled the eggs at his government car, hitting the
rear window.
Police had kept the 70 protesters about 10 metres away from the entrance
to the cultural centre.
Mr Howard's personal security guards whisked him into the building after
the incident.
An anti-war coalition group said in a statement further protests are
planned in Sydney and Brisbane over the weekend, including a
"sit-down" outside Mr Howard's Sydney residence at Kirribilli.
