The Bush administration is big on symbolism - from its oceans of flags, to its "message-oriented" backdrops during official speeches, to its ominous logos and chilling slogans for the Orwellian programs it has implemented, to the "patriotic" new-speak it uses to sell its murderous war plans, to all its other techniques of mass-manipulation. Okay, if its SYMBOLISM they want, LET'S GIVE IT TO THEM!

The sacred "hymn" of the Third Reich, sung with great spirit at rallies and wherever Nazis gathered, was the "Horst Wessel Lied," alternatively known as "Die Fahne Hoch". This stirring nationalist marching song was written by Horst Wessel, an early Nazi "martyr." The song served as a central backdrop against which the worst crimes of the Third Reich were played out, and saw frequent use as the background music in Nazi newsreels and propaganda films. It was regarded with cold resentment by the large community of Germans who did not agree with Hitler or his policies, and increasingly came to evoke feelings of loathing wherever it was heard.
"Operation Enduring Association" is a proposal to forever associate in the public consciousness the criminal objectives of the Bush administration with the crimes of the Hitler era by playing the old Nazi hymn wherever and whenever the Bush regime or its policies are being promoted.
