The Washington Post was slow in reporting the resignation
of career diplomat John Brady Kiesling, who said he no longer
believed "that by upholding the policies of my president I was also
upholding the interests of the American people and the world." This
resignation may be just a blip in the grand scheme of things, says Post
ombudsman Michael Getler, "but looking back over Sunday
ombudsman columns and reader challenges ...there is a pattern in the news
pages of missing, underplaying or being late on various blips with
respect to public voices of dissent or uncertainty." Other
