Government: NMCI Strike Force
Convera was selected by EDS as the exclusive provider of secure enterprise
search for the entire Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI). NMCI will give the
Navy and Marine Corps secure, universal access to integrated voice, video
and data communications. It will afford pier-side connectivity to Navy
vessels in port. And it will link more than 360,000 desktops across the
United States as well as sites in Puerto Rico, Iceland and Cuba.
Convera will provide EDS its technology in an information utility model
that allows EDS to provide its NMCI customers secure access to any data,
regardless of data type � any time and anywhere on the NMCI network � by
utilizing the advanced network infrastructure built by the EDS NMCI team.
Data access is based on security measures in accordance with the NMCI
contract awarded EDS. Convera becomes part of the EDS NMCI team of more
than 3,500 people providing applications and other resources for the
creation of successful Navy Marine Corp Intranet.
