Biographical Details
Prior to entering politics, Andre Haermeyer was managing partner of the family business 1979-81, Research Officer to Senator Robert Ray and the Hon Ralph Willis MHR in 1984 and Research Officer to Peter Cleeland MHR between 1984 and 1989. Andre was ALP State Organiser from 1989 � 92.
Andre was elected as the first member for the seat of Yan Yean at the 1992 State Election and was subsequently re-elected in 1996 and 1999.
He served on the Parliamentary Public Bodies Review Committee from 1992 to 1994, and the Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee from 1994 to 1999.
Andre became Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services in December 1993 and added the Shadow Portfolio of Corrections in May 1994.
Following Labor�s election win in October 1999 he became Minister for Police and Emergency Services and Minister for Corrections.
Andre�s interests include Australian football, films, music, reading and information technology.MORE ON
