A New Zealand man who sparked a nationwide terrorist scare has revealed he had no idea what a fuss he would cause.
Tobacco sellers were forced to halt all sales earlier this week after a customer discovered a white powder in a packet of roll-your-own.
It now seems the incident was a scam gone wrong.
A 21-year-old shop assistant, Timothy Day has admitted in court he bought a packet of tobacco in a supermarket, then replaced its contents with tissue paper and flour before taking it back for a refund.
That pack was then sold to another customer who feared it was something more sinister.
Mr Day has been charged with obtaining cash by false pretences.
In other Nationwide terrorist scares...Eight civilians have been killed and five wounded by a missile that hit a vegetable market in Baghdad. An Iraqi hospital source says the market was at Nahrawan on the south-eastern edge of the capital.
