THE FIFTH HOPE
July 9-11 2004
The Hotel Pennsylvania
New York City
The Fifth Hope is this summer's hacker conference sponsored by 2600
Magazine. For three days, hackers from around the world will convene
in New York City to share knowledge, debate, and seek ways to better
understand each other and the world we live in. The Fifth Hope
organizers are seeking session topic proposals and speakers to be part
of the conference.
Topics related to all aspects of hackers and hacking are welcome. In
past years, sessions have included these themes:
* Social engineering
* Lockpicking
* Programming techniques
* Hacker Ethics
* Stories from K-12
* Systems administration
* Cryptography
* Telephone systems and caller ID spoofing
* Copyright and intellectual property
* Worms and viruses
* The man and how to avoid him
* Information privacy
* International cooperation
* Peer to peer networks
* Wireless
* Culture jamming
* Low-power radio
* Black hats and white hats
* Cyberterrorism and cyber protests
* Teaching hacking
Other topics are welcome, especially those offering fresh views on
hacking, or sharing new ideas on old themes. To nominate yourself or
someone else as a speaker, email these details to
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]": your name (or alias) and email address,
session title, and session description. Most sessions will be given
in large conference rooms at the Hotel Pennsylvania. Different
settings will also be available (such as a smaller room or ongoing
informal session).
The conference organizers will start planning the conference sessions
on Monday April 19. Proposals received after that date will be
considered if space is available.
