That is what I had in mind.
In particular we are no longer running stristr() on a mmap()ed file and
praying we find a '\0' before we run out of file. While we got away with
this because of the following CACHE_ITEMs, this has bitten me in the past.
I need to do something similar for index_overview() and then I'll commit
the fix.
