It simply means that the value of the expression is in (or needs to be in) a temporary variable. I'm not sure where you got the idea of a "temporary expression" from -- it's not a concept I had in mind when I was designing Pyrex. There are just expressions, some of which happen to put their results into temp vars. Whether a given expression node does so or not is an implementation detail of that node.
