There seems to be a serious problem with MinGW under Windows and with versioned MSVCR.dll's as you can read at:
http://bugs.python.org/issue3308 A workaround would be: cdef extern from "time.h" nogil: ctypedef long __time64_t __time64_t _time64(__time64_t*) If someone has a another idea to this topic I would appreciate it.
