Kurt, I have to run now, but this page is a great summary of approaches to python performance that Prabhu wrote years ago: http://www.scipy.org/PerformancePython It has weave examples, and it would be also great to have (possibly more than one) Cython approaches explained as well. I hope it's a useful reference as you move forward.
