Yes, probably. Both ndarrays and memoryviews are PEP3118 buffers in 
Cython. The Cython compiler works directly on a Py_buffer struct, which 
is unboxed into the local scope. To the compiler, slicing a memoryview 
will not be different from slicing an ndarray. Slicing C pointers are a 
little different, though. I think both should be allowed and optimized. 
Slicing a pointer makes sence in Cython, because pointers are 
conceptually sequence types.
