Czernowitzers, dear friends, From Bukovina we go through the Rodna Mountains and the Eastern Carpathians to Maramureș. First we drive along the Bistrița River, then in Sighetu Marmației we reach the Tisza River, which is the border river to Ukraine.
https://hauster.blogspot.com/2022/05/trough-rodna-mountains-and-eastern.html Every day, 20-30 Ukrainian war refugees still cross the bridge over the Tisza. A team of government agencies and international NGOs take care of the people. Even without the boundary stones on the Romanian border, one would have recognized the proximity to the Russian empire, because the railroad lines are double track, the Russian broad gauge and the European standard gauge.
