Czernowitzers...

I wish Timothy Snyder's lecture at Yale was off-topic for us Czernowitzers, but
given Putin's war of aggression on Ukraine, which leaves no place unaffected,
it is not. I thought that you might find the lectures as interesting as I do,
since there is great mention of the Jewish presence and life in Ukraine (see
Class 8: "Early Jews of Modern Ukraineā€œ) and the course itself gives great
depth to how Ukraine evolved over the centuries:

Timothy Snyder: "...Ukraine also provides an intense example of the
confrontation between modern national politics and extreme colonial
alternatives from the far right and far left. Modern topics therefore include
Russian and Austrian empires; Jewish and Polish urban society; Romanticism and
modern nationalism; the Bolshevik Revolution and its Ukrainian counterparts;
Soviet modernization and terror; Nazi occupation and the Holocaust; and ethnic
cleansing. Finally, contemporary Ukrainian history poses in striking form the
question of the functionality and durability of the post-imperial state."

Have all a great start into this new week!
