Hello everyone, My name Is Alex Rif, I was born In Chernovitz and Immigrated to Israel in 1991 when I was 5 years old. Today I lead an Israeli NGO named One Million Lobby that advocates the right and needs of 1.2 Million Israelis born in the FSU countries in front of the government. My love for my family's genealogy I got from my father, Michael Rif, a Chernowitz born and today runs one of the Russian-speaking Facebook groups <https://www.facebook.com/groups/271654390545345/members/admins> of people from Chernowitz.
I writing you because I need your help finding some very important to me information about my family from the Chernovitz area, since I reached a dead end. To make a long story short, I am looking for: 1. Birth and marriage records from Sadigura of the years 1860-1941 2. List and information about the Businesses ran in Sadigura between the years 1870- 1925 3. Birth and marriage records from Mihova of the years 1860-1941 4. Information about the patient Nachman Rottmann in the mental hospital in Czernowitz of the year 1908-1909 5. Death records of Czernowitz of the years 1935-1941 Can you please guide me by telling me where could I be able to find these records? Any other information you think could help would be very appreciated! Some more information about my family and the open questions: 1. Mariam Haller (great-grandmother) - We don’t know her parents’ names or birth year, not sure where she was born (Maybe Sadigora or Mihova), but she probably died in 1937 in Chernivtsi (didn't find her death cer. Or grave yet). Looking for her birth and marriage records and information about her parents and siblings. 2. Nachman Rottmann - (maybe great-grandfather) - We don’t know his parents’ names or birth year, not sure where he was born (Maybe Sadigora or Mihova). I found in the Chernovtsi archive a death certificate for a Nachman Rottmann from 1909, a widower (maybe he was married before the children of Miriam Haller were born?) and that he died in a mental hospital in Czernowitz from Progressive Paralysis. Looking for his birth and marriage records and information about his parents and siblings and records from the mental hospital to verify that it was indeed him. 3. Bertha Haller - born in 1896 to Miriam and Nachman Rottman - in Mihova or Sadigura. She and her partner Israel Mahler had two children: Natan Haller - born in 1923 in Chernivtsi and Gabriel Aharon Haller - born 1927 in Chernivtsi (found both their birth cer.) Looking for Bertha's Birth record. 4. Haim Moshe (Moritz) Haller- born in 13/3/1900 in Sadigura and married in 1923 in Chernivtsi to Chane Chaie Zummer from Horodenka (found their marriage cer.). Looking for his Birth record. 5. Isaac Haller (my grandfather), was born in 1908 in Sadigura. In 1935 he married Frida Rimmer in Chernivtsi. She perished in the Chernivtsi ghetto during the war and he was sometime at the front and mostly in the Gulag in Karelia (didn't find any records about that yet). Looking for his birth record. 6. Roza Haller- there may have been another sister named who married a Yaacov Cohen and maybe immigrated but I couldn’t verify that yet. Looking for their birth, marriage and maybe immigrations records. 7. Miriam and my great-grandfather ran a road inn in Sadigura, that went on Fire one day. Looking for information about that restaurant or road inn. 8. When my great-grandfather passed away, Miriam found it very difficult to run the inn alone, until she met the person who would later become her second husband and he helped her run the inn (his name is also unknown). This husband kind of adopted the children (it's not clear if formally). We also knew that one of them (not sure if the biological one or the second husband) was named Nachman. It is still unclear: whether Nachman Rottmann is the biological father or the second husband. Looking for maybe a Nachman Zloczower that might have been the first/second husband Thank you so very much and happy Passover!
