Hello, my name is Jens, I am a music journalist from Hannover, Germany. I have been a devoted supporter of the Israeli music scene for many years, visiting Tel Aviv on a regular basis. Around half a year ago I started to build a family tree on MyHeritage for my Israeli girlfriend . The paternal side of her family is actually from Czernowicz - her granny Rina was born there in 1940 as the daughter of Sigmund Gotlieb and Fanny Rubinstein. Fanny‘s father was Leon Rubinstein, the brother of Pinus/Pinchas Rubinstein (also known as Ben Saar).
Pinus wrote three diaries - these can be found in the USHMM in Washington DC, and „Der jüdische Vatikan in Sadagora“, published in Tel Aviv in the 1950‘s. Pinus died in Beit She‘an in 1963, his wife Pepi (born Schächter) in 1959. They are both buried at the old cemetery in Beit She‘an. After reading most of Pinus’ diary we are looking for further information on the Rubinstein family, specially on Leon Rubinstein and his wife Jeanette (born Hochman). Pinus and his family moved to Israel in the late 1940s while Leon and Jeanette stayed and died in Romania around 1946-47. According to my girlfriend’s granny, Leon died in Bucharest around a year after Jeanette who passed away in Bacau/Romania around 1946. Pinus mentioned his beloved brother in his diaries a lot. He even described the last time they saw each other in Romania in 1947, as if they already knew it would be the last time. However, he did not write about his death while he mentioned his sister-in-law died and being buried. Does anyone here know how to find out when Leon and Jeanette exactly died and on which graveyard they were buried? In addition, where can we find the exact birthdates of Pinus, Pepi, Leon and Jeanette ? I am registered to MyHeritage, Ancestry.com, Jewish Gen, Geni.com and Billion Graves, no luck here so far. We would also love to get any information on the parents of Pinus and Leon.
