Czernowitzers,

The graphic novel about our list member Mimi Taylor and her childhood friend
Herbert Rubinstein is now available in German. The book was presented in
Düsseldorf a few days ago. Düsseldorf's mayor gave a welcoming speech and
emphasised the importance of the city partnership between Düsseldorf and
Czernowitz.

The graphic novel, prepared by the Chernivtsi Museum of the History and Culture
of Bukovina Jews, was first published in Ukrainian as part of the international
project "Erinnerung lernen" (learning remembrance). The book is based on Mimi
Taylor's and Herbert Rubinstein's eyewitness accounts, archival documents as
well as old photographs and traces the history of the Holocaust in Czernowitz
for young people and for use in schools.

The presentation of the book took place during a youth exchange between
Czernowitz, Düsseldorf and Warsaw. Young people used creative methods to deal
with the topics of past and future. In the face of the russian war of
aggression against Ukraine, such encounters are of particular importance.

All the best
