Yes indeed, Carl Mechner was my grandfather’s older brother, an opera singer. 
I'm not sure if the attached image will come through in this email, but here 
are four panels from “Replay” page 112, showing Carl around 1911. He returned 
to Czernowitz after the war, later moved to Bucarest and lived there until his 
death in 1981. I’ll send you a separate email with more information and links 
to my grandfather’s memoir including his reminiscences about Carl.
