Hi Véronique, The record-keeping that was specific for the Jewish community ended in 1929, and what followed was “Civil Registrations” for birth, marriage and death for all faiths together. The religion is noted in each record. You can find Czernowitz records, 1930-1933 here: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/1632161?availability=Family%20History%20Library
I suppose that privacy laws prevent the copying and distribution of more recent records, which can nevertheless be found in local and regional offices. All the best, Bruce From: Véronique Gebuhrer <veronique.gebuh...@hotmail.com> Date: Friday, March 15, 2024 at 6:14 PM To: Bruce Reisch <bruce.rei...@cornell.edu>, CZERNOWITZ-L <CZERNOWITZ-L@list.cornell.edu> Subject: Re: New Suceava resource Hello Bruce Thank you for your work It is very useful for thé research of our ancestors Sorry for my English One more question Why the the record from Czernowitz archives stopped at thé Year 1929? It is not searchable by name (as far as I can tell) but you can scroll through the various entries – mostly Patronymic, very few surnames.
