Bottom posting and _some other rules_ based on common sense aren't something freakish. Perhaps you notice that quoting your mail makes it quasi unreadable. Imagine a howto, that comes into being by a _trimmed_ discussion. I suspect if you would have searched the archives you would have found hundreds of explanations, why there are those _rules_ you do ignore too.
