Hello I have a conceptual doubt about d2rq; I read many papers about it available online *, but couldn't find any deep explanation of how does it work.
Just to make it clear: it works fine, solves so many problems and allows me to experiment and learn a lot. However, when I read papers about schema mapping and data integration I miss the classes where to put the "d2rq" concept into. For instance, is it GAV ou LAV? The mapping file describes how one global schema concept (a class, or a property) maps to the database, with all JOINs and WHEREs needed to do that. I think that makes it GAV, but that's me thinking. Another doubt is about answering SPARQL queries - is it query rewriting? or query answering? I guess the first one, by the kind of SQL queries it generates. Is there any paper that describes the theoretical grounds for d2rq? * for instance, "D2R MAP – A Database to RDF Mapping Language Christian Bizer" Diogo F.C.
