Yes, no more problems now.
By the way i just tried installing FirefirdSS on ubuntu yesterday.
It went very smoothly. You only have to add a group 'firebird' and a
user 'firebird' with this group before you install
FirebirdSS-1.5.3.4870.nptl.i686.tar.gz as root.
So it isn't a pain to install a firebird server on ubuntu like Ed indicated.
So whole thing did install in about 10 minutes.
