As i think you will use ubuntu 7.04 (which still has the old kinterbasdb 3.1.2) i will set up an embedded firebird 1.5.4. This will get you going instantly after you installed kinterbasdb. First i will have to setup ubuntu 7.04 as VM. This will take a while.
