Just an idea: instead of 'force', why not add a delay interval? The
equivalent to 'force' would be 'delay=0'; in other cases,
callAfterInterval is called with the particular delay.
The advantage is that for some more complex UIs, we might need a
longer interval to avoid redundant calls.
