In Visual FoxPro many of the frameworks have auto update features. West
Wind and Visual Maxframe are two frameworks that I use that have this
feature. You can turn it on as easily as turn it off. Visual Maxframe is
similar to open source software because the developer would have a new build
almost every month.

You can not only use the auto update feature to keep your framework up to
date, but you can also use it for the applications you build with the
framework up to date.

Since Ed is a FoxPro guru I for one am not surprised.

I can't speak for Ed, but I often put code in my applications that the
customer did not ask for or will even use. I put this type of code in there
to assist me supporting my customers at remote sites. All of my
applications are installed remotely and it is impossible for me to be on
site to fix a problem. As auto update feature is something that I would
welcome.
