I think we figured out that it would be doable, if we change the way we import into Launchpad, or something. Something about importing a tarball of not just the .pot but also all the .po's. I agree that we want to be able to edit via Subversion as well as with Launchpad, but we have to test thoroughly to make sure it works as we expect.
