Yes, I think it's okay. Please understand that both Ed and I are currently swamped with our lives... we'll get this going as soon as we can! > solve some other issues in dabo...well, they are issues at least for me... > For instance... dDateTextBox, being great, looks and feels outdated... > so i'm wrapping wx.DatePickerCtrl to get a Date data-aware control... I think that sounds fine, but Ed had more of a hand in dDateTextBox than I did - I've been using raw dTextBox's for dates and datetimes, but meaning to move them to dDateTextBox to get the advanced features. It just hasn't happened yet. > This brings me to a discussion i've read here some time ago about > implement a specialized control for each type of data, Ints, floats, > dates, etc... > > I think this would be great... but i'd like to know if this is still the > current thinking...to have a specialized control for each data type, we > could have for instance: > dTextBox - Strings > dDateBox - Dates > dIntBox - Integers > dFloatBox - Floats > etc... > > Is this ok?... is my wx.DatePickerCtrl wrapper wanted, or is it going > directly to /dev/null? I don't know about the specialized text controls. We have dTextBox that can handle editing of lots of types in a general way, we have dDateTextBox for specialized dates and datetimes. We have dSpinner and dSpinnerX for ints and floats. I guess if you don't mind working on these for a while we can see what you come up with and go from there if it feels right... Regarding DatePickerCtrl, I think I'll yield to Ed on that one as I don't know how that differs specifically from what we've done.
