It's not just a CD thing; if you set the width of any label, it no
longer auto-resizes below that width; it will still expand if you
create a caption longer than that width, and will shrink down to that
width, but not smaller, if you set a shorter caption.
I'll look into only copying non-default properties, but that can get
hairy sometimes, and may introduce more problems than it solves.
