I think Tkinter has gotten a bad wrap. Python 2.7 and 3.1+ include support for the Ttk extension to Tkinter that delivers, IMHO, a modern, commercial quality user interface, that is *very* light weight (compared to wxPython/pyQt), cross platform, yet honors platform specific interface standards (an area where Qt seems kind of weak?)
