I recall running into a similar issue but I don't recall all the details. As I recall I ended creating the grid using a class - used an instance of the class instead of just creating the grid inline for the sizer. If my memory is correct it allowed the column sizes to be maintained when expanding and shrinking the form. The user was able to set the columns and they held. I hope that helps.
